Our health care team comprises physicians, nurse practitioners, and health assistants, all with special expertise in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Our pediatricians are affiliated with the Children's Hospital in Boston. All pediatric visits are by appointment only. If you have questions or need advice concerning child care, feeding, constipation, colds, or other issues, please call us at 617-495-4171. Many routine needs can be handled over the phone, and we're happy to help.
APPOINTMENTS
Appointments for illness or injury can usually be scheduled for the same day; weekend and evening care is available through our After Hours Urgent Care Clinic for issues occurring after our regular business hours. You will be advised whether to bring your child to HUHS or to Children's Hospital, depending upon the nature of the problem.
For Problems That Can't Wait
If your child has an urgent medical problem during nights, weekends, or holidays, call the After Hours Urgent Care Clinic at 617-495-5711. You will be given instructions about whether to bring your child to HUHS or Children's Hospital, depending upon the nature of the problem.
For "Sick Visits"
If your child needs to be seen due to illness or injury, call to schedule a "sick visit". Your child will be seen within 24 hours and usually on the day that you call. If you are not sure whether your child needs to be seen, please call for advice. A pediatric clinician will call back within 4 hours.
For Well Child Care
We recommend regular checkups at the following ages:
10 days | 1 month | 2 months | 4 months | 6 months | 9 months | 12 months
15 months | 18 months | 2 years | 3 years | yearly until 6 years | every other year through puberty
The wait for a regular appointment or routine checkup is usually 6 to 8 weeks. Please plan ahead for well child visits.
INSURANCE COVERAGE
Coverage for pediatric care outside of HUHS is determined by your insurance company. Contact HUHS Member Services at 617-495-2008 for insurance details.
