ACCEPTED INSURANCE PLANS

Harvard University Group Health Plan for Faculty and Staff
HMO and POS plans offered
Employees who participate in the Harvard University Group Health Plan (HUGHP), a health plan designed specifically for Harvard University faculty, staff, and their families, enjoy personalized services and high quality benefits. HUGHP’s partnership with Atrius Health allows each family member to choose from hundreds of Primary Care Physicians in 33 locations, including four campus locations. HUGHP members who choose an HUHS physician have access to covered services at all HUHS clinics, as well as 24-hour urgent care services at HUHS in Holyoke Center (Harvard Square). Retiree Plans
As a Harvard retiree participating in either the Medicare/Medex or Freedom Premier Plan, you are welcome to begin, or continue, your health care on campus at Harvard University Health Services (HUHS).  Retirees formerly with the Harvard University Group Health Plan (HUGHP) may continue to see their physicians at HUHS under these two plans, and may access all services at HUHS.  More information

URGENT CARE SERVICES
Employees of Harvard University who are eligible for health insurance benefits, including those not enrolled in insurance plans accepted at HUHS, may visit HUHS for urgent care needs that arise while at work.*  Faculty and staff members who are enrolled in a health insurance plan that is not accepted by HUHS will pay a $25 copayment when visiting HUHS for urgent care, and will be directed to their primary care physician for all follow-up and routine medical services.  HUHS at Holyoke Center in Harvard Square is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

If you are injured at work and seek medical assistance at HUHS, you will not pay a $25 copayment. Your injury will be treated as a Workers’ Compensation claim. 

* for illness or injury occurring within the previous 24 hours


The following services and programs are available on a fee-for-service basis to all faculty and staff with a valid Harvard ID; payment options include payroll deduction for all services below. 

Dental Services
For all your oral healthcare needs, HUHS Dental Services offers a full range of dental services for patients from six months of age through the life span. If you participate in the Harvard Delta Dental plan (Delta Preferred Option Plus), the clinic will bill your insurance.

Optical Shop
Our registered dispensing opticians have over 60 years of experience, offering you attentive, expert service.

Pharmacy Services
The HUHS Pharmacy has an extensive selection of over-the-counter medications and products, with access to thousands more at your request. The Pharmacy also offers biweekly specials, monthly discount packages, and regular store-wide sales.

Wellness Programs
The Center for Wellness offers innovative programs that range from complementary therapies to new exercises to improve health and fitness.
