- HUSHP Supplemental: Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Hospital/Specialty and Medco Prescription Drug Coverage
All students are eligible to waive this portion of the HUSHP plan if they meet the Massachusetts Student Health Program comparable coverage regulations.
To waive HUSHP Supplemental you will need to have:
- Evidence of comparable coverage* as defined by the Massachusetts Student Health Program
- A status of half time or less for that term (Note: half time or less students without comparable coverage must also waive the HUSHP Basic)
Note: Foreign-based health insurance and Fulbright coverage will not be reviewed or accepted as comparable coverage unless the student is studying outside the United States and the student’s insurance provides coverage in that location.
* Evidence of Comparable Coverage: To qualify for a HUSHP Supplemental waiver, the Massachusetts Student Health Program requires the student at a minimum to have health insurance that offers:
- Comprehensive coverage for hospital and ambulatory patient services in the Boston area.
- Coverage for surgical services, emergency visits
- Coverage for outpatient and inpatient mental health and substance abuse therapy
- Coverage throughout the academic year (8/1 – 1/21 fall, 1/22 – 7/31 spring)
- Coverage based in the United States
